I'm Raphael Galassi, a multi-disciplinary designer and art director based in São Paulo, Brazil. I build visual worlds for culture, mostly around skateboarding, music, fashion and the arts. Every project starts with an idea and the visual language that holds it together, and I carry it through to the final piece: an identity, a book, a skate deck, an apparel graphic, a website.
Graduated in Graphic Design from Belas Artes University, I've worked since 2008 between editorial, brand and digital, from Rolling Stone Brasil to independent labels, skate brands and zines.
I'm an art director who still makes things. Depending on the project, I shoot, illustrate, lay out, oversee printing and, when needed, build. My work spans print, apparel and objects as much as websites and digital experiences, where a visual idea becomes something you can navigate, click and interact with. That hands-on range shapes how I direct: ideas that hold up from concept to final form, on paper, on the body or on screen.
I work with brands, artists, collectives, labels, publishers and festivals, in Brazil and abroad, and bring in trusted collaborators when a project calls for a bigger team. Alongside client work, I make Monumental, an independent skate zine.
