Monumental is a zine made by and for the local skaters of Museu do Ipiranga, in São Paulo. It gives outsiders a glimpse of what it's like to skate at Museu, bringing the most iconic elements and symbols of the famous skate spot into its visuals and photography.
I art-directed and produced most of it: the photography, the editorial design and artwork, and the printing of a 450-copy run.
The project went beyond the page. I created and produced the merch, a line of tees and caps that carries the zine's visual language into apparel. For the launch, together with Luan Kenzo, I built the obstacles and organized a skate jam on October 3 that brought together around 80 skaters, so the release happened where the community actually rides.
The zine, the merch and the session work as one piece: the publication is the starting point, the jam is where it comes to life.
